Listing
Visibility
[[Visibility]] is the last page of a guide's Listing group in the sidebar. It decides where people who do not have the guide come across it and its spots: in Google, through a shared link and on Explore.
The switches are on the left. Click a row, or its switch, and the preview on the right shows what that switch changes, drawn from your own guide in the switch's current state. Every switch saves the moment you flip it and needs no publish. The guide's own card on Explore is not here: it follows the Sceniq Store page.
The switches
| Switch | Starts | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Sales page can be shown on Google | On | Google and other search engines may list the guide's main sales page, the one you choose with Set as main page on Sales pages, and Sceniq's sitemap names it. Off, the page asks search engines not to list it and leaves the sitemap; people still open it from your links, your creator profile and the store. Your other sales pages are never listed. |
| Spot pages can appear on Google | Off | Each spot of the published guide gets its own page on sceniq.earth: the guide's address, then /spots/ and the spot's name and code, such as sceniq.earth/yourname/iceland/spots/skogafoss-3f2a. The page shows what a shared spot link shows (below), search engines may list it, and Sceniq's sitemap names it. Someone who has the guide goes on to the spot in their guide. Off, the address opens the spot's shared link instead and nothing is listed. It needs Users can share a spot. |
| Users can share a spot | On | People who have the guide see a Share button on its spots and hikes, on the web and in the app. The link opens that one spot for anyone: its photos, text, visible facts, location and links, with your guide to buy at the foot. The rest of the guide stays locked. Off, there is no Share button, and a spot link opens only for people who have the guide; everyone else sees This spot is not available with See the guide. |
| Spots can appear on Explore | Off | Explore, where travelers browse Sceniq on the web and in the app, shows a Spots wall under the guides. On, your spots that have a photo join it, taking turns with the spots of other guides, and each opens its shared spot page. It needs an approved Sceniq Store listing and Users can share a spot. |
Search engines see a change the next time they visit a page, usually within a few days.
Why a switch waits
A short line under a row says what it waits for. The switch can be flipped once that is done, except where it waits for publishing: then it keeps your choice for the moment the guide goes live.
| Line | What it means |
|---|---|
| Shows once the guide is published | The guide is a draft or archived, so there is no page to list yet. |
| Shows once the main sales page is live | The guide is published but its main sales page is not. Publish it on Sales pages. |
| Needs Users can share a spot | Spot pages and spots on Explore are what a shared spot link opens, so they need sharing on. |
| Needs a Sceniq Store listing | Spots on Explore come from guides in the Sceniq Store. Open Sceniq Store takes you to the page where you request a listing. |
| Waits for the Sceniq Store review | You asked for a listing and it is in review. The switch works once the guide is approved. |
The preview
The preview shows one of your spots: the one with photos and the most facts filled in. A guide without spots shows an example spot.
| Row | What the preview shows |
|---|---|
| Sales page | A search for the guide's name, with the main sales page as the result: the title and description the page sends to search engines (its search fields, else its title and headline). The grey results around it stand for other sites. No live sales page yet shows before the main page is live; off, the place stays empty. |
| Spot pages | A search for the spot's name, with its spot page as the result: the spot and guide name, the spot's short description and its first photo. No live spot pages yet shows before the guide is published; off, the place stays empty. |
| Share | A phone with the spot's shared link, opened by someone without the guide: the spot page with the Sceniq button and the bar to buy the guide. Off, the phone shows This spot is not available. |
| Explore | The spot's card on Explore's Spots wall among the spots of other guides there now, faded. Off, Your spots are not on Explore holds its place. |
The example guide
Every creator also sees a read-only example guide. Its Visibility page shows the switches and previews, with nothing that can be changed.
