Listing
Name and price
Name and price is the first page of a guide's Listing group in the sidebar. It holds what every buyer sees before anything else: the guide's name, the countries it covers, the image on its card and its price, plus where the guide focuses and the language it is written in. Beside the boxes (below them on a narrow screen), the guide preview shows the card exactly as your creator profile shows it, and it changes as you type.
Each box saves on its own. Nothing here changes until you press that box's button.
Basics
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Name | The guide's name: on its card, in buyers' libraries and in purchase emails. A new sales page starts with it as its title, but the title is the page's own field after that: renaming the guide does not change it (see Sales pages). |
| Countries | The countries the guide covers. Pick one or several; with none it reads Worldwide. The store uses them for its country filter, and the guide map draws them: buyers see the outlines of these countries with their regions, or the whole world, flat or as a globe, when the guide is worldwide. Buyers can switch to a detailed map. The studio recommends focusing a guide on one country. |
| City or region | Optional: the city or region the guide focuses on, such as New York, the Alps or the Pacific Northwest, up to 80 characters. Leave it empty for a guide across a whole country or more. Buyers do not see it. |
| Main language | The language you write the guide in, picked when you created the guide. Each language wears a country flag (English the US flag); it only helps you find it and means nothing for who can buy. The most common languages come first, then the rest by name; Search languages filters the list (screen readers call it Languages). It does not translate anything: your sales pages get their translations on Sales pages. |
| Guide thumbnail | The image on the guide's card, in the store and on your profile, and the picture of its link previews. |
| Save basics | Saves the name, the countries, the city or region and the language. It stays grey until one of them changed. |
The thumbnail
Upload image adds a photo from your computer (you can also click the empty frame, which reads Add image). Choose image picks one of the guide's own photos instead. A new upload joins the guide's Media. The thumbnail saves as soon as you pick it, without Save basics.
You never crop: each card fills its frame from the middle of the photo. Every card uses the same 4:5 portrait frame: on your creator profile, in the Sceniq Store and on the home page. A portrait photo with its subject in the middle keeps the most of itself. Remove thumbnail goes back to the default: the first image of the Hero on the guide's Store page, its main sales page.
The thumbnail is also the picture of the guide's link previews: when someone shares a link to one of its sales pages, in Instagram or WhatsApp messages, iMessage, X, Slack and the like, the preview shows it whole, at its own shape and uncropped, in the middle of a blurred wash of the same photo, with the Sceniq logo. The preview's title under the picture is the page's. A new thumbnail gives the links a new picture within 5 minutes; an app that already showed a link can keep its old preview for a while. A guide with no photo at all shows its name on a Sceniq-blue tile instead. Your creator profile has a share image too.
Price
A guide is a one-time purchase: buyers pay once and keep it. The field's label carries your guide's currency, for example Amount (USD).
- Type the price and press Set price. Until you set one, the field suggests 29.
- While the creator agreement has a newer version you have not accepted, Set price is refused until you accept it.
- The lowest price is 9 in the guide's currency. Below that the field says so and Set price stays grey.
- Changing the price never changes what past buyers paid. A new price applies to purchases from then on.
- VAT is added on top for buyers in countries that charge it. What you earn from a sale is on Fees, prices and taxes.
Once a guide is live, a change to its name or price can take up to 5 minutes to show on its sales pages. The studio says so under the button for those minutes.
A guide needs a price before it can be published: the Publish dialog lists a missing price, and its Set price button brings you to this field.
Archive
Archive guide takes the guide off sale. It asks first, in Archive this guide?:
- the guide leaves your creator profile;
- all of its sales pages turn off, and visitors land on your creator profile instead;
- it leaves the Sceniq Store.
People who already bought it keep full access, and you can bring it back any time: Unarchive in the guide's "..." menu on Your Guides returns it as a draft, and publishing it puts it on sale again. On a live guide the dialog's other button is Keep it live, which closes it without a change. The box is not shown on a guide that is already archived. The same dialog opens from Archive in the row menu on Your Guides.
Delete permanently
An archived guide that nobody ever bought can be deleted for good. The box takes the place of Archive on such a guide, and only these guides qualify:
- the guide is archived;
- nobody owns it: no purchase, paid or partly refunded;
- it has no buyer history at all: no purchase of any kind (refunded and disputed ones included), no access granted to anyone, no review.
A guide someone owns shows no box: buyers keep what they bought, so it can only stay archived. A guide with sales history but no owners shows the box with the line "This guide has sales history, so it stays archived." and no button.
Delete permanently opens Delete this guide permanently?. The Delete item of the guide's row menu on Your Guides opens the same dialog. It names the guide and lists what goes with it: spots, photos, chapters, routes, sales pages and statistics. Type the guide's name exactly into Type the guide's name to confirm; only then does the dialog's Delete permanently button work (Enter works too). The guide leaves Your Guides at once and the studio takes you there; its rows are removed over the next few seconds, and while that runs the box reads "This guide is being deleted." This cannot be undone.
Guide preview
The card beside the boxes is the one your creator profile shows, with the name, price, thumbnail, country and spot count as they stand. While the guide is not listed in the Sceniq Store, a note under it explains that the guide appears on your profile once published, and that a store listing is requested on the Sceniq Store page.
The example guide
Every creator also sees a read-only example guide. Its Name and price page shows the example's fields as they are, with no buttons: nothing on it can be changed, archived or deleted.
